App Lock and Menu Bar Iconnew · 1.6

Lock the whole app with Touch ID, a PIN or a password; unlock it from its icon in the menu bar.

Settings, Security sets how Anxeb Terminal unlocks: None (as it ships), Touch ID (falling back to the macOS password), a PIN of four digits or a password. Only a salted PBKDF2 hash of the PIN or password is kept, sealed with a key in the macOS Keychain. Changing the method asks for the current one first; Forgot? unlocks with the macOS password and lets a new one be set.

Locked, no window of the app is in sight and it leaves the Dock and ⌘Tab, while everything in it goes on: terminals, SSH sessions, agents and the MCP server. It locks when asked (the padlock of the status bar, Lock in the app menu, ⌘⌃L, or the menu bar icon), after a chosen number of minutes with nothing done, when the Mac sleeps or locks, and as it opens, asking at once for the finger or the PIN.

The icon of the app in the macOS menu bar (monochrome, following the theme of the bar) has a menu: Open or Hide Anxeb Terminal, Lock, Active Sessions (each brings its session to the front), Notifications with the unread count, New Terminal, the update found or Check for Updates, Settings, About and Quit. Locked, it offers only Unlock and Quit. A setting hides it, except while a lock is set.

The app itself is signed with the Developer ID of Nodrix and notarized by Apple.

What it does

  • Touch ID, PIN or password lock.
  • Hash sealed with a Keychain key; nothing in plain text.
  • Lock by hand, after idle minutes, on sleep, at start.
  • Menu bar icon with sessions, notifications, updates and lock.
  • Signed and notarized.

How it behaves

  • Every window of the app, detached ones too, locks and unlocks together.

Why it matters

  • Walk away from your desk with production sessions open, safely.
